As we continue our journey towards CQC accreditation, we have recently recruited a Registered Manager. Thomas Naughton has already been with us for a couple of weeks; but for those of you who haven’t yet had the chance to meet him, here he is…
My name is Thomas Naughton and I am very excited to have joined Pioneering Independence as a Registered Manager.
Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. I am originally from Cambridge where I first volunteered for a mental health charity while I was completing my psychology degree. I progressed on to work in a college but soon decided I wanted to work within the care sector on a full-time basis. This resulted in me becoming a support worker. I gained great satisfaction from seeing the difference my colleagues and I had on the people we supported. Having worked in several different services throughout Cornwall and Devon I was given the opportunity to lead my own teams. I specialised in supporting people who required additional behavioural support, leading to me becoming a trainer in positive behaviour support and management. In addition to training staff, I also completed my management qualifications. This was key to me developing my management skills and style. I have since proceeded to develop services and support quality development within services as a registered manager. The services I have overseen include supported living, enabling, domiciliary and residential services as a registered manager.
My aim within the role is to support the organisations at all levels with the great work we are currently doing. In addition to this I aim to support the establishment of regulated services. This will offer new opportunities for us as an organisation to grow in new directions. I am excited about working for Pioneering Independence and look forward to working for the people we support.
