Our services

Deaf services.

Support delivered in British Sign Language, by staff who understand Deaf culture — not through an interpreter booked for the occasion.

What this is

Communication is the support.

For a Deaf person, support that cannot communicate fluently is not support at all. Too many Deaf people with learning disabilities or mental-health needs end up in placements where nobody signs, and where isolation gets recorded as behaviour.

Our Deaf service is built the other way round. Support is delivered in BSL by staff who sign, overseen by our Deaf Practice Lead, and the person's Deaf identity is treated as something to support and celebrate rather than accommodate.

That means access to the Deaf community, to interpreters for health and legal appointments as a right rather than a favour, and to a staff team who can hold a proper conversation.

How we work

What Deaf-led support looks like.

Three commitments that shape every Deaf package we run.

01

BSL first

Staff who sign.

Support workers on Deaf packages sign, and we invest in developing BSL skills across the wider team rather than relying on booked interpreters.

02

Deaf-aware

Culture, not just language.

Our Deaf Practice Lead advises on every Deaf package so that support respects Deaf culture and identity, not only communication needs.

03

Connected

Access to community.

We actively support access to Deaf clubs, events and networks — isolation is the risk we work hardest to prevent.
