Safeguarding & quality.
Keeping people safe is the part of our work we are least willing to compromise on. These are the commitments we make, and the documents that hold us to them.
Safe support is the baseline, not the achievement.
Everyone we support has the right to be safe from harm, abuse and neglect — and to be listened to when something isn't right.
Every member of our staff is trained in safeguarding before they work unsupervised, and refresher training is mandatory. Concerns are raised the same day they arise, and we work openly with Plymouth City Council, Devon County Council and the Care Quality Commission rather than waiting to be asked.
We would always rather raise a concern that turns out to be nothing than miss one that wasn't.
Three things we do differently.
Safeguarding policies are only worth the behaviour they produce. These are the habits behind ours.
Speak up early
No threshold for raising a concern.
Staff are told explicitly that they will never be criticised for raising something that turns out to be nothing. Concerns go to the on-call manager the same day.
Learn out loud
Incidents get reviewed, not filed.
Every safeguarding incident and near-miss is reviewed by the senior team, and what we learn changes the support plan — not just the paperwork.
Check ourselves
Quality audits on a schedule.
We audit care plans, medication records and daily notes on a rolling basis, and act on what the audits find rather than storing them for inspection.
Safeguarding & quality policies.
Download the policies that govern how we keep people safe. Ask the office if you need one that isn't listed.
Worried about someone we support?
If you have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of anyone we work with, tell us. We would far rather hear it than not.
